Apple experienced a significant decline in iPhone sales during China’s Double 11 Shopping Festival, with a double-digit percentage drop year on year (as per reports).
Chinese smartphones manufactures like Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo launched new flagship models just before Double 11 to gather customer’s attention rather than buying discounted phones. As Chinese mobile makers are dominating the China as well as Global market, companies like Huawei is holding its top position in China market.
Huawei did the same thing here and going to launch its new products on November 26th. Last year the Mate 60 series also achieved high sales and contributed to Apple’s declining market share in China but still iPhone 15 got profitable sales. This year, intensified competition during the event further overshadowed Apple. The release of the Mate 70 series is also expected to add more pressure on Apple in Chinese market.
Apple’s Response
In an attempt to lose declining sales, Apple has introduced several promotions and discounts in Chinese market. However, these efforts have not been sufficient to offset the competitive pressure from local brands. The success of Huawei’s Mate 70 series could further shift market dynamics, forcing Apple to releases its strategies to appeal to Chinese consumers
