Google pixel 6a full overview

Google Pixel phones are known for their innovative camera feature, welcoming gesture controls, and AI-assisted features. However, these flagship smartphones come with a hefty price tag—at least $750 or even more. For many people, that’s simply too much to spend on a smartphone. With the average cost of flagship smartphones continuing to increase yearly, it is no surprise that Google released a more affordable version of its Pixel phone in early 2019. While most other brands tend to release entry-level devices as second-best options at sub-$300 prices (and rightly so), Google has instead chosen to launch an affordable mid-range phone at just $449. What’s to Like About google pixel 6a?

google pixel 6a

There are several things to like about Google’s Pixel 6a. First and foremost, the Pixel 6a comes with a great camera. Google claims it to be the best camera on any phone under $400, and it’s easy to see why. Google’s Pixel 6a has a 12.2MP and 12MP rear-facing camera with f/1.7 and f/2.2 respectively. Aperture, HDR+ technology, and a 1.19µm pixel size. It also has an 8MP wide-angle front-facing lens with an f/2.0 aperture that allows for 90-degree wide-angle selfies. With a combination of these features and Google’s renowned HDR+ software, the Pixel 6A produces stunning images with vivid colors and beautiful contrast. The Pixel 6A’s camera also excels in low-light conditions, thanks to its Night Sight feature. Night Sight enables this device to take stunning low-light photos without flash—even when moving objects are present. The Pixel 6A is also the first phone to come with Google’s new Pixel UI, a gesture-driven operating system that is designed to be intuitive and easy to use. You can easily navigate your phone’s interface by swiping or tapping on the edges of the screen. Pixel UI also comes with Duplex, Google’s artificial intelligence-powered call scheduling feature.

Now the in-hand feel of the phone is good because it’s got a small 6.1-inch OLED panel which is smaller than the 6 and the 6 pro therefore it feels more comfortable to hold and use and also the finish of the pixel 6a definitely felt among its peers for sure and it’s got this very important premium feature. No headphone jack and it only comes in the 60-hertz panel which is embarrassing. But the bright vivid panel supports HDR across all apps like on youtube and Netflix as well as in gaming. Now 60 hertz is getting old in 2022 but it should barely come with a minimum 90-hertz refresh rate. One thing in this phone that makes it cool is that it comes with stereo speakers which are better than any other phone in this range.

Why Choose the Pixel 6A Over Other Mid-Range Phones?

Over the past few years, Google has established itself as a trustworthy brand, with a reputation for quality products and excellent service. With an overall positive reputation and an excellent track record, Google’s Pixel 6A is a reliable mid-range phone that will last you for a long time. The Pixel 6A is also one of the few mid-range phones that come with the latest Android Pie OS. The device’s large 1080p screen is bright and sharp, and the phone’s single-lens camera remains sharp even in low-light conditions. The tensor chip which is available on the 6 and the 6 pro is also there on the 6a as well this is very similar to Apple’s strategy where performance is something that google does not want to skimp out on this time and it’s definitely a huge upgrade over what we got on the pixel 4a. This chip is powerful that competes against the Snapdragon 870 and the Dimensity 1200 and the Dimensity 1300.

Camera in-depth

Now come to the camera on pixel 6a and I don’t need to say this everybody loves the camera on Pixel phones. You won’t get the 50-megapixel primary camera that you get on the pixel 6 pro but you’ll get a dual primary 12.2-megapixel primary camera and 12 megapixels ultrawide the other one. In front, you will see an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Pixel phones are hardly ever managed in some camera features and it’s mostly got to do with the kind of magic that google runs with the software algorithm running in the background. We get an awesome magic eraser feature which has been improved using machine learning and artificial intelligence. Google’s real tone algorithm for skin tones and the kind of facial tones that you get is just so true to life not to mention that the HDR performance looks to be good too. Some highlights are slightly overshot a little bit but maybe google could have controlled that better and generally you see the “Magic” in action when you shoot it live the phone also locks in focus and shoots really fast you can trust it to shoot moving objects with ease. Also, the low light performance looks good but again the details are kinda soft. It can record with 4K 60fps HDR videos with a pretty good sound recording. With its 8-megapixels selfy camera it shoots great facial tones but again it could have been sharper for sure. Camera recording is limited to 1080p 30fps and I think it should be at least 4K 30fps but it’s ok for the front camera.

Software

The pixel 6a runs on Android 12 and it’s got a few pixel-specific features to enhance your experience. Google is definitely prioritizing users’ privacy and security which is a great thing. The software experience on the pixel 6a is of course great but we know by now that a lot of users complaining about the bugs that exist on their phones but the pixelated doesn’t have too many bugs as sometimes the optical in-display fingerprint scanner wouldn’t register a fingerprint and it doesn’t work at all which is also has been a problem with many users but I am sure that upcoming updates will fix this soon. The pixel 6a comes with a short three years of software updates and five years of security updates. I don’t know whether this is enough for you or not in this price range considering the Galaxy A series which gives you promised four years of software updates as Samsung confirmed recently

Battery

Pixel 6a has a fairly capable battery of 4410Mah which easily lasts you a day of usage with the kind of battery optimization that google does with the software itself. It hasn’t wireless charging but charges at a decent speed of just 18 watts out of the box which is not for 2022 standard.

Drawbacks of the Pixel 6A

While the Pixel 6A’s camera is stunning and its design is attractive, it is not a water-resistant phone. This device is not certified by any authority to be water-resistant (IP67 or IP68), so you cannot use it for underwater photography. Another drawback of the Pixel 6A is its inability to work on all U.S. carriers. Although the device is compatible with GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile, it does not work on Verizon or Sprint.

Should You Buy the Google Pixel 6A?

The Google Pixel 6A is a powerful mid-range phone that is built to last. If you do not need a phone that is water-resistant, the Pixel 6A is a great choice. Despite its shortcomings, the Pixel 6A remains an excellent value for money. With its stunning camera, intuitive operating system, and affordable price tag, the Pixel 6A is a great mid-range phone that is worth considering. Although you can expect Galaxy ‘A’ series a worthy phone in this segment.
