Samsung revealed their new LPDDR5X DRAM for the next generation’s faster multitasking, speed, and performance. The DRAM boasts speeds of up to 10.7 GBPS.
Using 12 nm-class process tech, Samsung made the smallest chip for LPDDRs yet, showing off its tech prowess in low-power DRAM.
YongCheol Bae, Samsung Electronics’ Executive Vice President of Memory Product Planning, says, “As the need for powerful yet efficient memory grows, LPDDR DRAM will spread beyond mobile to areas like PCs, servers, and cars.”
With AI apps booming, on-device AI becomes vital, driving the demand for low-power, high-speed LPDDR memory.
Samsung’s 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X boosts performance by over 25% and capacity by more than 30% from the last gen, now packing up to 32GB in one chip, perfect for the on-device AI era.
The LPDDR5X brings power-saving tech, adjusting power based on workload and extending low-power modes, improving energy efficiency by 25%, extending battery life for mobiles and cutting energy costs for servers.
Mass production of the 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X kicks off in the second half of the year after checks with mobile chip and device makers.
