A report by a digital blogger disclosed that the mobile phone manufacturer expected to unveil the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 mobile platform in the latter part of this year might not be Xiaomi. While the blogger didn’t specify the manufacturer, based on release patterns, it’s speculated that Xiaomi, Vivo, or Honor could be potential contenders.

Contrary to popular belief, Xiaomi doesn’t always secure the launch rights for Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship mobile platforms. For instance, at the end of 2022, Vivo’s X90 Pro+ was the first to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform, not Xiaomi’s 13. Going forward, Xiaomi faces competition from manufacturers like Samsung, Lenovo, and even Asus for the initial launch rights.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is anticipated to be Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile platform yet, featuring the TSMC 3nm process and transitioning to the self-developed Nuvia architecture. It boasts 2 Nuvia Phoenix performance cores and 6 Nuvia Phoenix M cores, along with the Snapdragon X80 5G modem supporting peak download speeds of up to 10Gbps and theoretical upload speeds of up to 3.5Gbps, with compatibility for 5G millimeter wave and sub-6GHz. The official unveiling is expected at the Snapdragon Summit, with the first model slated for release by year-end.
